The row keeps getting wider
You have probably added stitches. Count after every row. The first stitch of each row is the usual trap.
- 2
The row keeps getting narrower
The last stitch at the end is missing. Find the top of the turning chain and work into it.
- 3
Stitches are too tight
Relax your grip, go up half a hook size and do not pull the yarn taut.
- 4
The foundation chain twists
Keep the chain straight when you start and make sure all the V shapes face the same side.
- 5
Too many turning chains
One for single crochet, three for double crochet. More gives wavy edges.
- 6
The yarn splits
Use smooth cotton yarn and always insert the hook under both loops of the stitch.
- 7
The piece curls
It happens in rounds with too few increases. Add six stitches in every round.
- 8
Ends are not woven in
Weave in ends at once. If you wait, you will not find them again.
